Michael Herron

Michael Irving Herron, age 46, of 320 Wilson St., died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Duke University Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Kenneth Lee Herron and Marsha McCullock Herron Payne, who survives, and was married for over 24 years to Lori Vestal Herron, who survives. He was employed for over five years with AKG of America, Inc. and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church. He was an avid softball player and loved cars. Mike is survived by his wife of the home; mother and step father, Ken Payne, of Burlington; sister, Katherine Payne Reed and her husband, Douglas, of Burlington; grandparents, Lela C. and James R. Kimrey of Burlington; and mother and father-in-law, Betty Brothers Vestal and Allen M. Vestal of Alamance. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Wayne Herron. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2010 at Beacon Baptist Church by Rev. Greg Barkman and Rev. Steve Loy. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his in-laws, 4509 Alamance Baptist Church Loop, Alamance, NC.
