Mertie Long

Mertie H. Long, 96, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a 3 day illness. She was the wife of the late Millard Long and the daughter of the late James R. and Zue Lena Price Robertson. Mertie was a native of Wake County, and retired from Tower Hosiery Mill, a charter member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church and a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters; Peggy Long of Charlotte, Faye Thompson and her husband George of Supply, NC, sons; Douglas Long and his wife Libby of Burlington, Jesse Jake Long and his wife Pat of Elon, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughters; Doris Long, Joyce Long, a grandson Dennis Crawford, sisters; Bertha May Pierce, Beulah Blanche Allen, Lissie Pearl Pulley, brothers; Berry Moses Robertson, Walter Allen Robertson and James Jimmy Edward Robertson. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Garry Baldwin and Rev. Gary Gates. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 PM Monday at the funeral home prior to the service and at other times at the home of a son Jesse Long, 404 Orange Dr., Elon.
