Melvin Douglas Martin

Melvin D. Martin died peacefully at home October 15, 2023 with his family by his side.  Age 81, he had been in failing health for one year.

He was the son of Lewis and Grace Martin, both deceased. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Billie Kaye Martin and son, Christopher Martin.  One brother, Jerry Martin and one sister Shelia Whitt. 

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Connie Cone, Gayle Braxton, one brother Robert Martin. 

Melvin retired from Konica Minolta and then began raising black angus cows.  At times, they were more like pets.  Especially if they shared a Pepsi with him. #20 liked her Pepsi. 

He was a scout master at Emmanuel Methodist Church for many years.  At times, he had 50 in his troop. 

The funeral will be held at Emmanuel Methodist Church, La Vista Drive, Burlington, NC at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 22, 2023 with Military honors.  There will be a visitation following the service.

Donations can be made to Hospice or to Emmanuel Methodist Church. 

A very special thanks to his caregiver, Larraine Parker, without her assistance, I would not have been able to take care of him at home.
