Melvin Ray Crouse, 80, formerly of Chestnut St. went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Irene Barnes Crouse and son of the late Lester M. and Lelia Gerringer Crouse. Mr. Crouse was a WW II Army veteran and retired from AT&T where he was a member of the Communication Workers of America. He was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church and a member of the Light Bearers Sunday school class. He was a Hospice Volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his son Bobby Ray Crouse and his wife Sylvia, stepson Larry Alton Barnes, a sister Alma Mae Wright, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter Linda Carol Crouse, parents, a sister Ilene Baker, brothers; Clair Crouse and Roy Crouse. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, September 11, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shields. The family will receive friends 12 - 12:45 pm prior to the funeral and at other times at the home of the son Bobby at 2515 Watt Dr., Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com.
