Melvin Cook

Melvin Lowe Cook, 87, of Elon went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after a six week critical illness. He was born in Alamance County to the late Clyde Hazel Cook and Mary Lowe Cook and was married for 59 years to Betty Pope Cook who survives. Melvin was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship, worked for Cone Mills for over 46 years, but he was truly at home working in his gardens that he loved. He is survived by his wife of the home, daughters and sons-in-law, Susan David Honeycutt of Elon and Donna Dennis Connerley of Floyd, IA; grandchildren, Daniel, Angela and Kelly Connerley, Jonathan and Michael Honeycutt; great grandchildren, Austin and Faye and sister, Ruby Farlow of Temple Terrace, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margaret and brothers, William, Fred and Hollis Cook. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Alamance Memorial Park by Larry Hughes. The family will receive friends from 6 8 Sunday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
