Melissa Nicole Luman Maxwell, age 40, of Burlington, a beloved wife and mother, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of failing health.
Born in Miami, FL, Melissa was a U.S. Army Veteran and served her country with Korea being her primary duty station. She had a passion for learning and was presently enrolled at Liberty University studying psychology. She enjoyed rock climbing and loved animals, especially dogs.
Melissa is survived by her husband, John “Brandon” Maxwell; two sons, Kristopher “Michael” Maxwell and Gabriel Steven Rodgers of Austin, Texas; her father, Rev. William Kreis Luman, Jr. of Burlington; two brothers, Jeremy Kreistopher Luman and wife, Chandra Leigh, of Macon, Georgia and Scot Richard Luman and wife, Katie Elizabeth, of Smyrna, Georgia; her grandmother, Shirley Hood; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Ann Hood Luman; grandmother, Bernice Elma Luman; and grandfathers, Anderson Hood and William Kreis Luman, Sr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Chapel by her father, Rev. William Luman, Jr. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel.
