Burlington – Melanie Beth Forbis, 53, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.  A native of Alamance County, she was born July 22, 1966 to the late Bryant Eugene and Ruby Nell Massey Forbis.

Melanie attended The Gathering A Christian Community and believed in “praying big!” She was employed with the Occupational Educational Enterprises for 40 years.  She loved 80’s music and was an avid fan of Pro Wrestling.  Melanie had a huge personality and a loving spirit and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sister, Penny Taylor (Charlie); brothers, Mike Forbis (Anne), Steve Forbis (June) and Doug Forbis (Denise) all of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Kate McGhee and Hannah Clapp of OE Enterprises and her friend and caregiver, Angel McPherson.

A service to celebrate Melanie’s life will be held 11:00am on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at St. Luke’s UMC with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Special Olympics of NC at https://give.specialolympics.org/.
