Maxine Nicholson Cook, 92, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at her home. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late William Edwin Cook, Sr. and daughter of the late Marion Pike and Hazel Lambeth Nicholson, Sr.. Maxine was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church for 65 years and was retired from Byrd's Food Stores where she served as office manager for 40 years. Survivors include her sons, William Edwin Cook, Jr. and wife Sandra of Camarillo, CA, Richard Wayne Cook and wife Marilyn of St. Helena Island, SC and Steven Craig Cook of High Point, NC; sisters, Lucy N. Bardwell and Sarah N. Blanchard both of Burlington; 4 grandchildren, Brittany C. Pulei, Chad J. Cook, Peter Garcia and Lucas Garcia and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Delores N. Young; brothers, Marion P. Nicholson, Jr. and John Frank Nicholson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, December 7, 2015 in Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Larry Redding and Rev. Phillip Smith. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Cook will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes, prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 3-5pm on Sunday. At other times the family will be at Mrs. Cook's residence. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Glen Hope Baptist Church; 911 North Ave. Burlington, NC.
