Max Henry Jones,84, passed away at his home Wednesday October 24, 2018. He was born October 11, 1934 in Randolph County to the late Ira Allen and Edith Kennedy Jones and was married to Alanda "Landi" Hawkins Jones for sixty-three years. Max worked for thirty-seven years for Western Electric, Bell Labs and A.T. &T. He transferred to Naperville, IL in 1976 with Bell Labs and returned to Burlington with A.T.&T. in 1984 retiring in 1989. Max was a longtime member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and served in many roles over the years as Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, Consistory and Brotherhood. He delivered Meals on Wheels for twenty-five years, volunteered at A.R.M.C. as a car driver, served meals in the Good Shepherd Kitchen then the Allied Churches Shelter. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, "Landi" Jones; son, Jeff (Bonnie) Jones; daughter Leslie (Bob) Lynch; sisters, Ruth Raines, Jean Kearns, Susan Hopkins; brother, Tim (Lori) Jones; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Jason Jones; brothers Don Jones and Larry Jones.
The celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the First Reformed United Church of Christ by Rev. Phil Myers. The family will receive friends 10:00 - 10:45 AM Saturday prior to the service.
