Maude Harris

Mrs. Maude Walker Harris, 95, formerly of Wiggins St., died Friday, November 24, 2006 at White Oak Manor after several months of failing health. A native of Orange County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Y. Walker and the late Lena Rivers Murray Walker and was married to the late David G. Harris, who died in 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham, where she was in the Senior Choir and taught Children's Sunday School. Mrs. Harris is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Mitchell of Durham; two sons, David L. "Dave" Harris and his wife, Iris, of Gibsonville and Gayle W. Harris and his wife, Denise, of Statesville; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Grace Harris of Chapel Hill; and a brother, Warren Walker of Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Charles E. Harris; son-in-law, Paul A. Mitchell; four sisters, Catherine Phelps, Phronie Phelps, Tinnie Blackwell, and Nannie Nicks; and four brothers, Herman Walker, Marion Walker, Hester Walker, and Hubert Walker. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 Sunday, November 26, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Graham by the Rev. David Kolb and the Rev. Chris Phelps. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:45-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the church prior to the service and other times at the home of the son, Dave Harris, 810 Driftwood Dr., Gibsonville.
