Mattie Smith

Mattie Herring Smith, 88, passed away Wednesday at Alamance Healthcare. She was born November 15, 1927 in Alamance County to the late Lacy and Elizabeth Kimrey Herring and was married to the late Melvin B. Smith. Mattie was a member of Beverly Hills U.C.C. and attended Graham Friends Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Tommie (Rodney) Smith; sons, Bobby (Sherry) Smith, Terry (Pat) Smith, Jerry (Cindy) Smith; grandchildren, Ashley (Will) Ragsdale, R.D. Smith, Chris (Tina) Smith, Jonathan (Sam) Smith, Shannon (Ryan) Isley, Chad Smith; great grandchildren, Duke Ragsdale, Smith Ragsdale, Sterling Ragsdale, Tinsley Smith, Leighton Smith, Chandler Smith, Gracie Smith, Cameron Smith, Kaitlyn Isley, Madison Isley; sisters, Annie Herring and Bonnie Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Nellie Smith and Elizabeth Martindale.
The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Graham friends Church by Tom Barton. Interment will follow in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at her residence.
