Mattie Lou Chatman Bundren, age 74, of Burlington, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at her residence after a sudden illness.
A native of Alamance County she was the daughter of the late Charles Richard Chatman and the late Hilda Gray Lineberry Holt and was married for 53 years to John Larry Bundren, who survives. Mattie was employed with GKN Automotive for over 23 years before her retirement and was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking everyday with her group of friends and also playing golf with her husband. Mattie loved planting flowers and tending to her many beds located on her property. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Bundren is survived by her husband of the home; her daughter, Angie Rogers (Jamie); six grandchildren, Tommy Bundren, Taylor Bundren (Chelsea), Maria George (Timmy), Matt Rogers (Summer), Harrison Pickard and Hailey Pickard; is expecting two great grandchildren, Mason and Mattie; a sister, Crystal Berry; a brother, Tim Chatman (Cindy); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tommy Bundren, Sr.; a sister, Linda Putnam; and a brother, Mike Chatman.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kevin Bunn. Interment will follow at Cedar Cliff Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
