Matthew Aaron McIntyre, 33, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. The battle he endured with HPS for many years ended while waiting for the gift of donor lungs.
Matt was born in Guilford County on Feb 27, 1983. He is survived by his wife Susan Elizabeth McBane, daughters Olivia Ann McIntyre and Emily Elizabeth Newton, all of the home. Matt is also survived by parents Gary Ray and Katherine Sharpe McIntyre and Grandmother Irene Sharpe. He was predeceased by grandparents Dwight Sharpe and James and Ann McIntyre.
Matt graduated from Eastern Guilford High School, and received his B.S. in Information Systems from UNCG. Matt was especially talented in the application of computer and communications related technology, and held certifications as a Cisco CCNA and Novell Network Administrator. Several organizations benefited from his work in this area, including his church, the UNCG Department of Chemistry, and the HPS Network, where he served as a member of the Board of Directors. Matt completed two Internships at the Congressional Budget Office in Washington, DC. He was actively involved with scouting, serving on CSR summer camp staff for 3 years, and earning his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 265. Matt was a licensed ham radio operator and avid inventor in many fields.
Matt eagerly shared his skills and talents and was a strong force in the HPS Network where he helped to further their efforts in research, education, and outreach. He touched many lives in this role and will long be remembered by those who knew him. Of all his accomplishments, his greatest pride and joy in life was his wife and two daughters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday, April 11th at Gibsonville UMC by Rev. Sybil Parks and Rev. David Greene. Interment will follow in Gibsonville Town Cemetery.
Mr. McIntyre will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 5 - 8 PM on Sunday and other times at the home of his parents.
