Mary Etta Rutherford Price, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Mebane Ridge Assisted Living. She was born on February 27, 1931 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Lonnie Rutherford and Rose Nell Stevenson Rutherford Viney Sierra, and was married to the late James Ralph Price who died in 1998.
Mary Etta was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Missionary Bible Class. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time outside, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Price Oakley and husband Jimmy; a son, James Kenneth Price; grandchildren, Kyle Oakley and wife Amy, Laura Westwood and husband Frankie, Heather Mabe and husband Jermany and Terrence Price; great grandchildren, Kayla Oakley, Noah Oakley, Keyan Oakley, Kane Westwood and Cole Westwood; sisters, Charlotte Weaver and Lonnie Young and husband Jim; a special sister-in-law, Evelyn Rutherford; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special companion and friend, Willard Moore, who her children say “Is a Saint on Earth” and would like to express their gratitude for all his loving care that he showed to their mother.
Mary Etta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Lessie, Faye, Polly and Betty; and a brother, Jack Rutherford.
The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Randy Hobbs and her grandson, Kyle Oakley with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00pm to 1:45pm at the funeral home. The family would like to send a “Special Thank You” to the Community Hospice nurses and staff for all their compassion and support that was shown to Mary Etta and to the family.
