On Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 10 a.m. Mary Stoneman Riggs (age 91) joined her devoted husband, Pastor Emery Garrett Riggs, in their heavenly home. As a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, she is reunited with him today. She is joined by those who have preceded her in death including her parents; sisters; her grandson, Mark Bridges; and great grandsons Angel Anzora-Riggs and Stephen Riggs Jr. She is survived by her children Pamela Stevenson (Max), Russell Riggs (Betty), and Timothy Riggs (Patty). She has 7 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
While on her earthly journey, she was a proud Christian, housewife, missionary, seamstress, and LPN. Mary enjoyed preparing delicious southern meals for those around her. Outside of the meals she cooked for others, she enjoyed eating Taco Bell followed by ice cream at Mapleview Creamery. She crocheted beautiful afghans that have been enjoyed by many.
Her smiles and kind nature touched everyone she met. She was a great example of being thankful to God for all she was given. (1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ) A special thanks to White Oak Manor; Holly, her Occupational Therapist; and the Nurses and Doctors at Moses Cone Green Valley Campus. A celebration of her wonderful life, to include a taco and ice cream bar, will be held at a later date.
