Burlington-Mary Jane Johnson Wimbish, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017. She was a native of Chatham County and the wife of the late George Edmond Wimbish.
Mary Jane retired from the Mineola plant in Gibsonville and was of the Baptist faith. She was an excellent cook and loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy Wimbish and wife, Sandra of the home, Glenn Wimbish and wife, Carolyn of Burlington and George Wimbish, Jr. and wife, Judy of Florida; daughters, Virginia Andrews of Gibsonville and Vickie Russell and husband, Larry of Siler City; step sons, Jack Burgart and wife, Joyce of Eden and James Wimbish and wife, Sharon of California; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Roger and Donnie Wimbish; daughter, Frances Wimbish; parents, Rufus and Bessie Workman Wimbish and seven siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10:30 am at Alamance Memorial Park by her grandson, Chad Wimbish. The family will be at Mary Jane's home and also the home of Tommy and Sandra Wimbish.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
