Mrs. Mary Jane Janie Watson Simpson, 83, of 1813 S. Mebane St., passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Hospice Home after a critical illness of several days. A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Theo A. Watson and the late Lula Barnwell Watson and was married to the late Thomas Meador Simpson, who died in 1987. She was retired from Olympia Narrow Fabrics after many years of service and attended St. Johns New Mission United Church of Christ. She was an excellent cook and an avid reader of cookbooks. She was a loving wife and mother and she loved her extended family and her special dogs. Mrs. Simpson is survived by her daughter, Judy Simpson of the home; a son, Cyrus Simpson and his wife, Barbara, of Haw River; a step granddaughter, Joanna Hazarhun; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Daphine Watson Fuquay; and a brother, Jack Ellis Watson. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 10, 2006 at St. Johns New Mission United Church of Christ by the Rev. Mack Painter and Rev. Don Rumple. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johns New Mission United Church of Christ, 1908 S. Mebane St., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com.
