Burlington Mary Helene Yuhasz Sargent passed away peacefully at The Village at Brookwood Healthcare, Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was 90. Mary was born in Windsor, Connecticut to the late Michael and Anna Yuhasz. She was predeceased by her brothers Elek and Michael. Mary lived in CT for 77 years before moving to Burlington. She graduated from Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT and attended the Univ. of Connecticut. Before her retirement Mary was Secretary to the Executive Secretary, Judicial Department and later a Pretrial Coordinator for the Supreme and Appellate Courts, State of Connecticut. Mary received recognition from the CT General Assembly for her commitment and dedication for over 27 years in state service. While in CT she actively participated as a volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 25 years and during retirement with the Red Cross Disaster Team. In 2002 Mary moved to Burlington and immediately became know for her ready smile and personal warmth. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Cooper Hines of Burlington, Joanne Cooper-Novak of Chardon, OH, Diane DeVito of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Arthur Harold Cooper of NY; grandchildren, Sarah Cooper-Novak Payne, John Novak, Jason Hines, Seth Hines, Susan Hines Cceres, Saskia Grupp Ekstrom, Sarah Grupp, Carl Grupp and Karl Longenecker; great grandchildren, Emma, Aria, Gillian Payne, Kai and Liev Ekstrom, George Hines, Victor Cceres, Jonathan Grupp, Jasmine, Rebecca Marshall, Samantha, Amanda Williams, Jordan Lee and Ashley Longenecker. A private graveside service will be held in Connecticut. The family is forever grateful to the nurses and staff at The Village at Brookwood Healthcare and especially Melanie Shields, Cherry Jones and Mary Norfleet. Also, a special thank you for the compassionate care by the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell.
