Mary Moore

Mary Etta Majors Moore, age 79 passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. She is the wife of 63 years to Ronnie Thurman Moore, Sr. who survives. Mary was the adult care administrator for Elon Village Homes for many years. She operated the first facility for Adults with mental disabilities on the east coast. Mary enjoyed crafts especially painting pecan figurines which she sold at BMOC for several years. She is survived by her husband, son, Ronnie T. Moore, Jr. and his wife, Dana of Burlington and her daughter, Deborah Ballard and her husband, Lewis Clyde Ballard, Jr. of Liberty; grandchildren, Jason Moore, Jennifer Tom Whaley; Chris Ballard and Ashe Luis Torres; great grandchildren, Dax Whaley, Grant Ballard, Noah Ballard, Nathan Ballard, Sydney and Dom Torres. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Ciller Hurlston Majors; sisters, Emma Carpenter, Helen Hall, Civiller Bateman and Lena Price; brothers, Charlie and Oscar Majors. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Cauthren and the entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 pm prior to the services at the funeral home and other times at the home.
