Gibsonville, NC Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Durham Michael, age 84, of the Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was a native of Caswell County and the wife of the late Fred Rankin Michael, Sr. Lib worked for many years at Glen Raven Mills and later retired from the Altamahaw Baptist Church Daycare. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Lib loved country music and her favorite artist was George Jones. She was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed working in her yard. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her son, Fred "Butch" Michael, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Gibsonville; daughters, Kay Sasser and her husband, Jimmy of Burlington, Patsy Kylander and her husband, Jerry of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Angie Huffines, Kevin Sasser, Tammy Rice, Eddie Michael, Kim Murrell, Kristie Kylander and Kelly Kylander; great grandchildren, Shawn Huffines, Summer Huffines, Ashley Sasser, Cale Sasser, Kelsey Rice, Elizabeth Rice, Peyton Murrell and Sierra Murrell; sisters, Polly Durham of Gibsonville, Frances Nance and her husband, Paul of Gibsonville; brother, Harrison Durham of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Michael, Sr.; parents, Walter Harrison Durham and Nannie Mills Chatham Durham; step mother, Ella Durham; sisters, Ruth McIntyre and Annie Lee; brothers, Fred, Vernon and Elmo Durham. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Brightwood Christian Church by Rev. Don Ledbetter and Rev. Ricky Cox. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the granddaughter's home, Kim Kylander Murrell, 6447 Friedens Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 or Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home, 700 S. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27407.
