Mary Kernodle Martin

    Mary Lorraine Martin, 69, of Elon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 31, 2023 and is now dancing with her angels; Cholly and Carisa.

    Mary was born January 26, 1954 in Rockingham County to Howard “Bill” Kernodle and Virginia Garrison Kernodle. Upon graduating high school, she had a dedicated career in the textile industry; both at Copland Fabrics and Flynt Fabrics. For fun, Mary enjoyed writing poetry, drawing, and watching TV shows from when she was young. Mary loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will all miss her quiet, peaceful presence and the care that she showed them over the years.

    Mary was preceded in death by her two daughters; Cholly Deaneen Kimrey and Carisa Wells Hutchins and her parents Howard and Virginia Kernodle.

    Mary is survived by her two sons, Jonas Howard Kimrey and wife Sarah, Jimmy Dale Martin II and wife Lesly; grandchildren Jessica Lauren Hutchins, Matthew David Hutchins, and Katherine Cholly Kimrey; great grandchildren Makena Stallings and Makaleigh Stallings; siblings Howard Larry Kernodle and wife Lorrie, Tina Kernodle, Robin Jordan and husband Joey, and John David Kernodle and wife LaDania; numerous nieces and nephews.
