Mary Compton

Mary Ward Compton, 86, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at The Oaks. She was born in Orange County to the late Elijah and Nancy Ward and was married to the late Zellie "Z.N." Compton. She was formerly employed by Roses and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Diana C. Alan Mitchell of Beaufort, SC, sons, Lemuel Kathie Compton of Burlington, Jerry Penny Compton of Graham; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a sister, Rosanne Ward of Ossipee. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Shawn Hopkins, two sisters and a brother. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Stephenson with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home and other times the home of her son, Jerry, 116 Mallard Creek Drive, Graham.
