Mrs. Mary Madgeline Warren Burnette, affectionately known by her family as “Babe” was born September 28, 1945, formerly of Greensboro, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 (76) at Alamance Regional Medical Center after being cared for at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Alamance County since 2019. After surviving Bone Cancer, Stroke, and several aches and pains her health slowly began to fail.
A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard James Warren and Catherine Dick Warren. She was married for over 56 years to the late Paul Hudson Burnette, who passed in 2018. Mary had various occupations in her lifetime. From being a loving, dedicated housewife since the age of 17, mother of 2 children worked in the public school system as a chef, textile mills and housekeeping jobs. In addition, one of her favorite past times was shopping for “wigs”. Mary was a believer in Christ and after returning to North Carolina in 1999, her and Paul joined Mt. Carmel Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, James Warren, Myers Warren and one sister Juanita Dick.
Mrs. Burnette is survived by her two sons, Anthony Burnette-Warren and Demond Burnette (Clarissa), and two grandsons, Tijae “TJ” Burnette and Preston Burnette; a special daughter, Jacqueline Emerson (Howard); two granddaughters Kristie Mebane (Eric) and Zelphia Johnson, great grandson Jaden Johnson, two brothers; Robert Warren (Denise), and Franklin Warren (Darlene), three sisters-in-law’s: Geraldine Burnette, Linda Trotter, and Ricky Mebane, a special friend, Donna Gay Teale from Sacramento, California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -1:45 PM Saturday prior to the service in the chapel.
