Burlington, NC Mary Sue Arrwood Bumgarner, age 88 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at White Oak Manor. She was a native of Jackson County and the wife of the late James "Jim" Bumgarner. Mary was a homemaker and member of Cross Way Church in Altamahaw. She enjoyed crafts and worked for many years in the Activities Department at White Oak Manor. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. Survivors include her son, Jerry Bumgarner and his wife, Vivian of Burlington; grandchildren, Tracy Mark Beaddles of Sneads Ferry and Dennis Kim Apple of Mebane; great grandchildren, Sarah Midget, Tony Beaddles, Kellie Apple and James Apple; great, great grandchildren, Jason and Brianna Midget. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Rebecca Elaine Apple, son, Robert James Bumgarner; parents, Jacob "Jake" Arrwood and Nine Taylor Arrwood and sisters, Ruth Sprague and Martha Vance; brother, Hermon Arrwood. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of White Oak Manor for their kind and compassionate care for Mary over the past several years. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Michael Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her son's home; 409 Columbia Avenue in Burlington.
