Burlington, NC Mary Florence Woody Black, age 77, of Wynnwood Drive went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Person County and the wife of 57 years to Robert Cary Black who survives. Mary retired from Lucent Technologies after 21 years and was a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. She was an avid UNC Tarheel fan and an excellent cook and homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Robert Cary Black of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia Capps and her husband, Jack of Burlington, Tammy James and her husband, Chuck of Gibsonville; grandcchildren, Brandi Simmons and her husband, Derek of Elon, Chad James of Gibsonville; great grandchildren, Jordan Miller and Blake Simmons; sister, Zelle Morrow of Roxboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Emmie Walker Woody; sisters, Odelia Cozart and Lou Margie Harris Ayers; brothers, James, Henry and John Woody. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bennie Smith and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:15 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Shelia Capps, 214 Willie Pace Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
