BURLINGTON- Mrs. Mary Marshall Atkins Bell, age 85, of Alamance Rd., died Friday, May 10, 2013 at White Oak Manor after a brief illness. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late B.C. Atkins and Argie Marshall Atkins and was married to the late Joseph David Bell, Sr., who died in 1995. She was employed with Western Electric for over ten years before working as a bookkeeper for Maurice Jennings. Mary later received her real estate broker license and worked for many years with Century 21 before retiring. Mary was a former member of Glencoe United Methodist Church and later was a longtime member of Davis St. United Methodist Church, where she was in the Builder's Sunday School Class. Mrs. Bell is survived by her two sons, Joseph David Bell, Jr. and his wife, Robbie, of Graham and Jeffrey Todd Bell and his wife, Elizabeth Bosley "Betsey Bell", of Elon; five grandchildren, Clint Bell, Emily Bell, Walter Bell, Alex Bell and Lauren Mann; four great grandchildren; and a sister; Almeta Atkins "Billie" Cockerham of Greensboro. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, May 13, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ellen McCubbin. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 1:45 Monday afternoon prior to the service and other times at her son's, Joseph, home, 2357 Lacy Holt Rd., Graham.
