She remained in touch with classmates and friends through their reunions, of which she enjoyed and seldom ever missed attending. An avid and talented before her retirement, she set and may still hold a few records set at the former Burlington Lanes. She loved to read and was well known on site at the county libraries and was a woodworker, craftsperson, and enjoyed sewing. She was most content spending time in her work shop turning thrift store finds and recycled items into gifts for anyone who liked them and special gifts for her kids, grandchildren and sisters. She took on projects that most women her age would not attempt, but as she said: "It takes me a while; I just "piddle" at them until I get done". She just recently redecorated her bathrooms!! She enjoyed trips to the beach with her sisters so very much. They were a force to be reckoned with if there was a thrift store or yard sale sighted on the way as a 3 hour trip could take all day, but they loved it. She enjoyed family beach trips, cookouts and birthdays. Anytime she had her family around, she was very happy. She loved Washington Redskins Football and was an avid fan for decades. Everyone knew when the game was on; SHE WAS NOT TO BE DISTURBED! Her last couples of years were filled with loss and heartaches. On her bulletin board in her office was found the following quote Arthur Unknown; "Each of us is born into this life, with a light inside of us. What is most important is to never let that light go out, because when you do, it means you've lost yourself to the darkness". Mama, we will keep your light burning in each of us!
