Elon, NC Martha "Marti" Jean Bentz Bruner, age 70 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at ARMC surrounded by her family. She was born in Hampstead, Maryland and was the daughter of the late James Roland and Helen Elizabeth Bosley Bentz. Marti was employed with J R Tobacco and was a former employee of REGO Engineer Controls. She was a member of Central Carolina Community Church of Asheboro. Marti was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren and she loved entertaining and cooking for family and friends. Marti was a die -hard Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapins fan. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Bruner Baird and her special friend, Sid Witmer of Burlington; son, Bryan Bruner of Burlington and his special friend, Eva Cushman of Lexington; grandchildren, John George Longest III and his fiance, Carmen Schoepske of Greensboro, James Hamilton Baird III of Burlington; sister, Linda Evans of Lancaster, PA and brothers, Barney Bentz and his wife, Trish of Monkton, MD and Wayne Bentz and wife, Patti of Manassas, VA and her former husband, Bobby Dale Bruner and spouse, Darlene Bruner of Burlington. She also loved her 4 legged grandchildren. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 am by Rev. Farron Duncan and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home and other times at Sherry Baird's home 4404 Hwy 62 South, Burliongton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 101 Centrepoint Drive, Suite 130, Greensboro, NC 27409 or Bellemont United Methodist Church, 4039 Markwood Drive, Burlington, NC 27215.
