Mrs. Marlene Friddle Whitesell, age 76, of Gibsonville, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in North Little Rock, AK after a sudden illness. A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Lester Roy Friddle and the late Daisy Thomas Friddle and was married for over 41 years to Alton Alfred Whitesell, who died in 2001. She was a longtime beautician with Trimmed in Red Salon and was a very active member of Bethlehem Christian Church. Mrs. Whitesell is survived by her daughter, Sherry Burris and her husband, Keith, of Greensboro; two sons, Van A. Whitesell and his wife, Joanna, of Greensboro and Ken A. Whitesell of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Bradley Burris, Hallie Burris, Heather Burris, Spencer Whitesell, Madison Whitesell, Megan Whitesell and Lauren Whitesell; two sisters, Erma Dell Weaks of Gibsonville and Linda Jones of Burlington; and a brother, Harold Friddle of Whitsett. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Dave Gilbert. Mrs. Whitesell will lie in state from 2:30 3:45 at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the daughter, Sherry's, home, 3600 Cooper's Farm Ct, Greensboro, 27406. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethlehem Christian Church c/o Current Building Project, P.O. Box 127, Altamahaw, NC 27202.
