Mark Van Schaick

Mark Lee Van Schaick, 57, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2019 at ARMC surrounded by his family.  He was born in Schoharie County, NY to Leland “Lee” Evans and Bonnie McMann Van Schaick. He was the husband of 29 years to Michelle Eriksen Van Schaick who survives.  He graduated from Sharon Springs Central School in Sharon Springs, NY in 1980 and attended SUNY at Cobleskill in Cobleskill, NY.  Mark was the owner/operator of L-A Landscaping for over 15 years.  He was previously employed by LabCorp, Payne Power Tools, H&B Lawn & Landscaping and also worked in construction for commercial and log homes.   He attended Hope Church and was a longtime member of Glen Hope Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and usher but he especially enjoyed his time working with the preschool, children and youth.

Mark had a passion for all sports and enjoyed playing basketball and softball with the youth at church and various teams in the community but soccer was his favorite.  He made all county men’s soccer for three years during high school and continued playing with friends, coaching and watching his daughters play.  Mark was full of life and was constantly playing pranks on friends and family.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother whose greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Eriksen Van Schaick; beloved daughters, Lauren Ashleigh Van Schaick and Alana Eriksen Van Schaick; brother, Timothy Van Schaick and wife, Tracey; sister, Becky Eanes and husband, Greg; niece, Brooke Van Schaick; nephews, Brandon Van Schaick (Stephanie), Jadon Van Schaick, Nicholas and Zachary Eanes; parents, Lee and Bonnie Van Schaick.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Hope Church by Rev. David Faile and Rev. David Boucher.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of his sister, Becky and Greg Eanes.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Dr. Anne Norman, Samantha Hamilton, RN and Andrew Gentry.
