Burlington - Marjorie Loftis Dix, 86 of 408 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, after several months of failing health. She was born May 19, 1935 at her family's farm in Reidsville, NC to Andrew Carlyle Loftis Sr. and Myrtle Garrison Loftis. She was the cherished wife of her deceased husband, Floyd E. Dix, for 57 years. Other than her parents and spouse, she is preceded in death by one infant son, Darrell Eugene Dix; brothers, Bradford Loftis, George Loftis, her twin Carlyle Loftis, Lincoln Loftis, AC Loftis Jr., Wayland Loftis and sisters, Adele Loftis Marlowe, Louise Loftis Walker, Lois Loftis Gooch, Wynell Loftis Gooch, and Carol Loftis Wetzler.
She is survived by one son, Floyd E. Dix II and Brittainy of Burlington; daughters Anita Dix Doby and husband Richard of Burlington, Beverly Dix McHugh and husband Joe of Burlington, Cathy Ann Dix (Ball) of Gibsonville, Jackie Lee Wood and husband Derrick of Burlington; grandchildren, Layla Yankle, Karla Wilson Mann, Gari Ann Wilson Rugg, Jonathan Howerton, Michael Howerton, Ally Howerton, Orion McHugh, Amber Vaziri Vaughn, Kalah Smith, Mikel McCauley, Megan Snead, and David Wood; great grandchildren, Kendle Storey, Ethan Storey, Isabella and Judah Yankle, Madison Oliver, Kamdyn Wagner, Adriana Mann, Adeline Rugg, Harper Howerton, Easton Joines, Elijah Marchi, Maverick Vaughn, Jaylen Lewis, Aiden Duffey, and Carson Ellis; and loving, loyal, lifelong friend, Dotty Lee Crawford.
She graduated with honors from Bartlett Yancey High School in Yanceyville in 1953, worked for Western Electric, was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church of Burlington, a committed volunteer with the Alamance Burlington School System during her children's attendance, youth group leader during her membership at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Graham, a Guardian Ad Litem for the Alamance County Courts System, teacher’s assistant for Eastlawn Elementary, a loving mother and homemaker. Her playfulness, love for fun, and pecan pies will be sorely missed.
Her family would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to Janice Worth at Springview Assisted Living for her friendship, devotion, and coordination of care.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mark Stewart with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Beverly and Joe McHugh.
