Marie Tippins

Gilda Marie Edwards Tippins, 79, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at her home following several months of failing health.  She was born December 2, 1940 in Alamance county to the late Marshall Franklin and Mary Frances Hodge Edwards and was married to the late James Underwood Tippins for fifty years. Marie was of the Christian faith.  She was a proud military wife following her husband all over the world.  She enjoyed playing bingo, going shopping and spending time with her family.  Everyone was family to her she never met a stranger.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Andrea “Andi” (David) Ward, Jamie (Darryl) O’Daniel, Kevin (Michelle) Tippins; Erin (Dean) Bowman; grandchildren, David “Bubbie” (Tamara) Ward, Billy (Cindy) Shepherd, Jessica Tippins, Kyle (Ashton) Tippins, Tara Ward, Wesley Logan Tippins, Trevor Bowman, Summer O’Daniel, Madison Ward, Chloe Bowman; a sister, Joyce Fogleman and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by her grandson Pastor Kyle Tippins.  Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6- 8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
