Maria Conway

Burlington - Maria "Teddy" Lopizzo Conway, 88, passed away on March 23, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born and raised in Salzbug, Austria on July 24, 1929 before moving to New Jersey, later Florida and lastly to Burlington where she resided at Cedar Ridge Independent Living for the past five years.
Maria was a member of the Elks Lodge. She was a fan of Elvis, enjoyed casino fun and especially the game of Bingo. She was affectionately known as "Bingo Queen". She loved nature and all kinds of animals, especially her dog, "Lucky". Maria was a loving mom, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosa L. Smith and husband Roger D. Smith of Burlington, JoAnn Zavodnick of New Jersey; grandchildren, M. Christopher Smith and wife Leah of Indiana, R. Dale Smith and wife Shelley of Raleigh and Scott Zavodnick and wife Amanda, Joseph Zavodnick and wife Diana and Lauren Zavodnick, all of New Jersey; step grandchildren, Shannon Smith of Raleigh and Zane Smith and wife Michele of New York; great grandchildren, Devon, Madelaine, Tabitha, Morgan, Campbell, Cooper, Sophia and Luca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Conway and first husband, Dominick Lopizzo.
A gathering of friends and family will take place to celebrate her life on Saturday, March 31 , 2018 from 10am-12noon at Cedar Ridge Independent Living.
