Margot Sechrest Shaw, 82, of Burlington,NC passed away Monday, August 10th, 2020 at the Hospice Home of Alamance- Caswell County.A native of Madison, Wisconsin, she was preceded indeath by her Father Claude Edmond Sechrest, her Mother Frances Florence Masty Sechrest, and her Brother Dennis Gene Sechrest. Survivors include her Husband of the home, James “Jim” Lowe Shaw, Jr.; a Sister Sharon Claudia Sechrest Betts of Tuscon, Arizona; two Sons, David Anthony Schiedow and his wife Ceci of Santa Barbara, CA, Todd Lawrence Schiedow and his wife Kim of Dana Pointe, California; two Step-Children; Michael James Shaw and his wife Janie of Graham, NC and Kathy Shaw Sweesy and her husband Glenn of Oakdale, CA; three grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild and 2 step-great grandchildren.
Margot loved being on their sail boat as it was her happy place. She loved her happy hours with Jim, cooking, country music, and the ballet. She was the owner of the Ritz Hair Salon in Burlington, NC, until she retired to travel with Jim to the Caribbean on their sail boat. After that time they traveled by RV to many states across the US. Traveling was her joy for many years and she also enjoyed sewing and quilting with her quilters guild. She attended Belmont United Methodist Church.
A public viewing will be held from on Friday, August 14th from 12 noon-5 pm at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory at 2205 S. Church St. , Burlington, NC. The funeral service will be conducted at Belmont United Methodist Church located at 4039 Markwood Rd., Burlington, NC on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Alamance Memorial Park immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margot’s memory to AuthoraCare Collective (formerly known as Alamance-Caswell Hospice and Palliative Care) 914 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.
