Mrs. Margie Ray Taylor, age 88, formerly of W. Davis St., passed away Wednesday May 4, 2011 at Hospice Home. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Grady Lamar Whitaker and Woodrow Wilson Taylor and daughter of the late William and Mamie Miller Ray. She was a lifelong homemaker and charter member of Faith Bible Chapel. Survivors include her son, James L. Whitaker and wife Patricia of Burlington; daughter, Carolyn Clapp and husband Jimmy of Burlington; grandchildren, Edward William Clapp and Scott Whitaker both of Burlington and Trish Nicholson of Wilmington; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Ethelene Porter and husband Wade of Elon and Pauline Stephens of Greensboro; brother, Fred Ray of Haw River; niece, Ann Allmon of Grand Blanc, MI; special friend, Christopher Miles of Burlington; and caregiver, Deborah Wright of Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; brothers, Ervin Ray, Jack Ray, Carl Ray, Ed Ray and Pete Ray and a sister, Lucille Carnatzie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mark Robertson. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Taylor will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7pm Friday and at other times the home of her daughter; 505 Alamance Rd., Suite 104, Burlington, NC. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
