Margaret Noah Thompson

Margaret Noah Thompson (“Margaret Lee” to many), 92, of Snow Camp passed away peacefully Friday, January 21, 2022, at Crossroad Retirement Community, Asheboro, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park by Chaplain Bernie Raymond.

Margaret was born on September 3, 1929, to the late Carl Anderton and Cora Edith Sharpe Noah.  Margaret was well known in the Pleasant Hill and Snow Camp communities for the many children she cared for over the years. She loved the children in her care and even up to her passing she would ask about children specifically by name. She was also known throughout Alamance County for her skilled quilting. The number of people that enjoy the warmth of one of her beautiful quilts is beyond what anyone could count. Even in her later years when she was unable to tackle the large, elaborate quilts she did years before, her desire to give back was still strong and she made lap quilts and toboggans to give away to those in need.

Margaret was the happiest working in her garden and tending to her beautiful flowers and never missed an opportunity to point out her flowers to those who visited her during her time at Crossroad Retirement Community.

Margaret is survived by her son, Calvin Clayton Thompson Jr. "Clay", and wife Renie of Snow Camp; granddaughter, Stacey Thompson Kerney and husband Jamie of Troy, sister, Nancy Carol Durham, and husband Bill of Snow Camp, along with many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years Calvin Clayton Thompson Sr, her daughter Dorothy Lyn Thompson, twin daughters; a sister Elise Noah Durham, a brother Robert Noah, and twin brothers.

A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Crossroad Retirement Community. In the 23 months that Margaret was a resident, the staff went above and beyond to welcome her and treat her like family. She made quick friends while there and her heart of a caregiver still showed through as she wanted to continue to make toboggans in case the staff needed them.

In lieu of flowers donations in Margaret’s memory can be made to Crossroad Retirement Community, 1302 Old Cox Rd Asheboro NC, 27205 or Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro NC, 27203.  You may send condolences to www.lowefuneralhome.com.
