Margaret Jarrett Swiggett

Margaret Jarrett Swiggett, 87, died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at UNC Hospital after four months of declining health.  She was born on July 24, 1931 in Randolph County to the late Dallas Flobert Jarrett and Marjorie Kennedy Jarrett and was married for 57 years to the late R. Horace Swiggett, Jr. who died in 2010.

Margaret managed Wills Book Store for 15 years.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband Horace in their motor home.  They made numerous fishing trips and visits with family and friends. She was a former president with the Burlington Jaycetts and was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Robert H. Swiggett III, M. Dale Swiggett and the mother of his children, Cindy; her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Mitchell and husband Craven; daughter-in-law, Jackie Swiggett; grandchildren, Julie H. Swiggett and fiancé Michael, Daniel J. (Nicole) Swiggett, Matt N. Swiggett, Timothy B. (Kelly) Swiggett, Nathan D. (Julie Williams-Swiggett) Swiggett, Scott A. (Jandy) Swiggett, William “Trey” Mitchell III and Cody C. Mitchell; great grandchildren, Hailey, Alexis, Alistair, Grant, Audrey, Hailee Jones, Graylyn Swiggett and the apple of her eye, Ranlee Swiggett; a sister, Barbara Marion; a brother, James Jarrett, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, David M. Swiggett; and brothers, Bob, Jerry and Ralph Jarrett.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00PM Monday, July 22, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jim Mitchell with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 5:00pm Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
