Margaret Small

Margaret Elizabeth Allen Small, 84, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, surrounded by her family after 4 weeks of failing health. She was born in Alamance County to the late William Arthur "Jack" Allen and the late Gena Verna Davis Allen and was the wife to Darrell Gene "Chief" Small of 65 years, who survives. Margaret was a former employee with WBAG, Process Technology and Keck Construction. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and writing to her pen pal, Tia Carolan from Carrickmacrass, Ireland for over 20 years. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Survivors other than her husband, Darrell include her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Angela Small, Tim and Christal Small, Chris and Dottie Small; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Willie Bray; 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter; a brother, Dr. Don Allen; and her feline companions, "Smokey" and "Stripe". She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be held 4:00pm Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Keith Sexton with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6pm Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Alamance County, P.O.
