Margaret Mayes

Margaret Sherrill Mayes, 91, formerly of Midway Church Rd., passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Alamance Health Care. She was the wife of the late Wiley Davis Mayes and was born December 27, 1921 in Iredell County, NC to the late John Lawrence and Della Cavin Sherrill. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her son Dennis Linda Sherrill of Burlington, grandchildren; Kelly Sherrill, John Davis Sherrill, five great grandchildren and a sister Jennie Sherrill of Elkin. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son Larry Sherrill, sisters; nettie Cole, Ada Sherrill, Irene James, Janie Sherrill, Mrs. Edward Salley, brothers; Arthur Sherrill, Lester Sherrill, Tom Sherrill and L.O. Sherrill. The graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Dave Gilbert and Rev. Mark Clark. The family will receive friends 9:30 10:30 AM Monday at Lowe Funeral Home.
