Mamie Penley

ELON- Mrs. Mamie Sue Ward Penley, 75, of 2560 Bridgeview Rd., died Monday, October 24, 2005 at UNC Hospitals after a couple months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Tim Ward and the late Onie Lucy Eastwood Ward and was married to the late Robert Vance Penley, Sr. who died in 1996. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Penley is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Ezzell and her husband, Ronald, of Haw River and Cheryl Brown and her husband, Donald, of Liberty; a son, Robert Vance Penley, Jr. of the home; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanetta Hamby of Reidsville and Mamie Lou Hodge of Elon; and two brothers, Otis Ward of Altamahaw and Carlton Ward of Elon. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gayland Dix. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Wednesday and other times at the home.
