Mae Phelps

Mae DeWitt Phelps, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at her home. She was born in South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Lewis DeWitt and Idell DeWitt Kinard. She was married for 68 years to Gordon Phelps who survives. She was formerly employed by Kayser-Roth, A.O. Smith and Roses. She attended Hebron Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Gordon of the home; daughter, Sharon Cecil Butler of Burlington; sons, Dwight Janette Phelps of Mebane, Tony Sandra Phelps of Mebane; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Chevez of Florida and a brother, Tommy DeWitt of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Thigpen. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Hebron Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Paul Cecil. The family will receive friends at the home and Mrs. Phelps will be available for viewing at Lowe Funeral Home from noon Friday until being taken to the graveside for services on Saturday.
