Macon Martin, Jr.

Macon Edward Martin, Jr., 84, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born in Wake County and was the son of the late Macon E. Martin, Sr. and Martha C. Martin. He was married for 31 years to Ruth Ann Bateman Martin, who survives. Macon retired from Southern Bell after 40 years of service and he attended Gibsonville United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and loved to play the piano. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Bateman Martin of the home; children, Kenneth E. Becky Martin of Burlington, Steven D. Kathy Martin, Sr. of Graham, Pamela M. Jeff Jarrett of Haw River and Emily E. Kent James of Gibsonville; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and brothers, John "Bud" Myra Martin of Wake Forest, Thomas Norma Martin of Raleigh and William Ann Martin of Elm City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Hardy Martin, son, Glenn S. Martin and his parents. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Sybil Parks with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
