Mabel Trent

Mabel Gann Trent, 87, went peacefully to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. She was married to the late Lawrence Milton Trent for sixty-one years before his death in 2006. She was born September 10, 1926 in Martinsville, VA to the late Thomas Franklin and Maxie Hawkins Gann. Mabel had retired from Lucent. after many years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a member of Pleasant View Assembly of God and had been a member of Burlington Assembly of God. Mabel had served as the Secretary of the Sunday School and taught Sunday School. Survivors include her daughters; Sharon Marvin Simmons of Greensboro, Janice Trent of Gibsonville, Amy Trent of Lexington, NC, a son Joseph "Joe" Iris Trent of Elon, a sister Shirley George Apple of Burlington and a brother Leo Gann of Burlington eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents and a sister-in-law Dorothy Barts Gann. The funeral will be held 1:00 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Loftis, interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at Joe Trent's Home 1133 N NC 87, Elon.
