Burlington, NC Mabel Sykes Stamps, age 75, of 2323 May Drive went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at her home. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late William Earlie Bill Stamps. Mabel was employed for many years with Burlington Industries at the J. Spencer Love Plant and she later retired from Tower Hosiery Mills. She was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies # 2 Sunday School Class. She was also an active member of the Never Grow Old Class for seniors. Mabel was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her sons, William Terry Stamps of Burlington and Dr. Danny Keith Stamps of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Amy Stamps Adams, Brian and Christopher Stamps; great grandchildren, Bethany Adams, Logan and Savanna Stamps; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and Frank Westbrooks and Catherine and Eddie Westbrook all of Burlington; brothers and sister-in-law, Tommy and Alice Sykes of Asheboro, Homer Bud Sykes of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Eleby and Lois Lineberry Sykes. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Jonathan Harrison and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
