Elon, NC Mabel Jean Simmons Solomon, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2010 at her home. She was a native of South Hill, Virginia and the wife of 54 years to James Henry Solomon who survives. Mabel was a seamstress for many years and a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Mabel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of the home and her children, Wade Solomon and his wife, Debbie of Elon, Danny Solomon and his wife, Annette of Elon, Scott Solomon and his wife, Angie of Elon, Diane Kilmer and her husband, Bernie of Burlington and Eva Fulcher and her husband, Lawrence of Yanceyville; 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Garland Simmons of Burlington and Edward Randolph Simmons of Cary. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gary Solomon and her parents, Clarence Gray Simmons, Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Evans Simmons and numerous brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Maranatha Baptist Church by Rev. Garland Simmons and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
