Burlington, NC Mabel Harris Rudd, age 84, of Morningside Drive went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2008 at UNC Hospitals after several months of failing health. She was a native of Caswell County and she was the wife of the late Currie Hasten Rudd, Sr. for over 25 years. Mabel was an employee for many years with Culp Weaving in Burlington. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family and friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dale Rudd Ackerman and her husband, Richard of Bahama, NC; sons and daughter-in-law, Currie Hasten Rudd, Jr. of Palm Beach, Florida, Joseph A. Rudd and his wife, Susan of Angier, NC; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rena Harris of Mebane; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Robert H. Rudd '74; daughter, Jo Anne Rudd Jordan '91; parents, Joseph Anderson and Viola Clayton Harris; sisters, Alma Harris McCann, Irma Harris Holland and Thelma Harris Cox; brothers, Dailey, Floyd and George Harris. Mabel's family would like to express their appreciation to Carolyn McIntyre, Linda Click and Joanne Otuonye for being her caregivers; Dr. Weil, Dr. Duncan and Dr. Kearl and the medical staff of UNC Hospital. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bennie Smith and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
