Lydia Davis

Burlington-Lydia Cates Davis, 77, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Alamance County on September 10, 1937 to the late Luther Cates and the late Minnie Wilson Cates Russell. Lydia was a member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Strader and husband James of Burlington; sons, Jerry Davis and wife Cindy and Craig Davis and Fianc Michele Mabee all of Burlington; grandchildren, Dustin Davis and wife Jessie, Chelsea Davis, Addison Strader; a sister, Ruth Hawkins; brothers, Jimmy Cates, Harold Russell and wife Betty and Lonnie Russell and wife La-Juan and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Wayne Gerald Davis; son, Michael Chris Davis; sister, Jean Taylor and brother, Marvin Cates. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Stacey Hall with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her son Craig's home at 2222 Wrenn St. in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.
