Luther Tucker

Graham - Luther Lyman Tucker, 77, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Guilford County on June 15, 1941 to the late Carlis Glenn and Etner Virginia Brown Tucker and was the husband of the late Shirley Kay Hurlocker Tucker.

Luther graduated from Monticello High School in 1959 and after graduation entered into the Textile Industry. He spent his entire career in textiles retiring after 20 years in 2006 as department manager from Upholstery Prints a division of Burlington Industries. Luther was of the Baptist faith. His hobby was repairing small engines and fishing and cooking. Luther raised a large vegetable garden every year and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed held.

Survivors include his sons, Joseph "Joey" Jonathan Gregory of the home, James Gregory of Burlington, Wendall Tucker and wife, Luisa of Burlington and Timothy "Tim" Tucker of Yanceyville; daughters, Janet Trogdon and husband, Mike of Elon, Cindy Oakley and husband, Michael of Hillsborough and Jennifer Talley and husband, Chuck of Graham; sisters, Louise Smith of Burlington, Lucretia Barber of Elon, Lou Ellen Bailey and husband George of Liberty, Linda Lewis and husband Donnie of Elon; brothers, Lloyd Tucker and wife Faye of Holden Beach, NC, Lathan Tucker of Burlington; Leary Tucker and wife Linda of Elon and Lynwood Tucker of Elon and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren especially meeting his newest great grandson from Brittney Martello who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:45pm prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
