Luther Murray

Luther Martin Murray, formerly of Durham St. in Burlington went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 13, 2012. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Snead Murray and was born September 13, 1920 in Alamance County to the late Clyde and Dora Loy Murray. Luther retired from Copeland Fabrics after many years of service. He was a member of Ireland St. Chapel where he had served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher. Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Jones of Carnesville, GA, Nancy Overby of Mebane, a son Joel A. Murray of New Bern, sisters, Hallie McCulloch and Lillie Robbins both of Burlington, a brother Joseph Murray of Elon, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister Lucille Parrish and a brother S.H. Murray. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Wayne Jones. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
