Luther Howell

Burlington-Luther Banks Howell, 78 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Meadows of Dan and the husband of 53 years to Ellen Pack Howell.
Luther was a veteran of the US Air Force. He attended West Burlington Church of God and Riverside Holiness Church. Luther was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Ellen Pack Howell; daughters, Sandra H. Cates of Burlington, Delores H. Long of Concord, NC, Amy L. Solis Latta of Durham, NC, Stacie H. Boswell and husband, William Neil of Raleigh, NC; Brittany Mabe Howell of Winston-Salem; sons, Calvin Mark Howell and wife, Brandi of Burlington, NC, Barry Nathan Howell and wife, Jeanifer of Garner, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Cates, Christian Solis, Jason Long, Jordan Long, Taffany Howell, Tyler Boswell, Nicholas Cates, Asa Latta, Kobe Latta, Michael Smith,Calvin Howell, Jr., Cailyn Boswell, Gloria Ellen Howell, Gannon, Nathaniel and Braydon; great grandchildren, Payton, Kamille, Kingston and Princeton; sisters, Elvie Stanley of Asheboro, NC and Opal Scott of Burlington, NC; brothers, Homer Howell and wife, Pat of Pinebluff, NC, Wayne Howell of Burlington, NC, Wesley Howell and wife, Doretha of Burlington, NC and Glen Howell of Meadows of Dan, VA; half- brother, Albert Handy and wife, Peggy of Graham, NC and a half-sister, Carrie Johnson of Meadows of Dan, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy Bowman and David Wesley Howell; sister, Delcie Huffman; brothers, Walter and Harmon Howell; half-sisters, Virgie Howell and Lula Mae Hylton and half-brothers, Odell, Clarence, Jim and Joseph Howell.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1:30 pm at West Burlington Church of God by Pastor Olin Tatum and burial will follow at Hooker Family Cemetery in Vesta, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
